Green Wheels Expo educates and excites visitors about sustainability By claire Redmer '21

Roads all over the world are filled with millions of cars, transporting people to work, school and many other activities. But as people become more aware of the impact of conventional transportation on the environment, they are turning their backs on traditional models, in favor of new electric cars.

That was exactly the goal of Sustainable Fairfield when they put together the Green Wheel Expo event. They hope to get people excited about getting clean and green with new electric technology.

The event gave people the chance to learn about different types of electric vehicles, including cars, bikes and boats. Knowledgeable team members gave visitors a full run down on the facts, their language laced with persuasion, in order to get consumers hungry for their product.

After learning all about electric, guests had the opportunity to test drive. Hopping behind the wheel allowed the customer to sense what it would be like to own the car for themselves.

However, the electric opportunities didn’t stop there. The Green Wheels Expo also included a fully electric school bus by The Lion Electric Co. Though the bus did not run, people were able to step on and see what could be the future of school transportation.

Pairing with the electric cars and buses, the event had various companies advertising their services. All of the companies had a central focus on sustainability and preserving the environment. From a green maintenance shop to curbside composting, the eco-friendly options for visitors to check out were seemingly endless.

Finally, the event was complete with an electric food truck. Mini Munch offered tasty bites for guests to purchase whilst perusing the cars, stands and tents. They also had vegan options available, keeping with the green theme.

The Greens Wheels Expo educated visitors about electric cars and sustainability through sight, speech and even taste. Those who went were able to get an inside look at a greener lifestyle and a cleaner future.
