Canada is limiting all international travel

Due to COVID-19, Canada has limited all international travel in and out of the country for the foreseeable future. Only certain people can travel to Canada if their travel is for a non-discretionary purpose. This means you should not be booking a flight or accommodation unless your travel is considered essential by the Government of Canada. For information about what travel is considered essential, non-discretionary and Canadian immigration details see the links below:

Take CMTN courses in your home country this Winter!

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) will be offering the winter 2021 in a Distributed Learning format to ensure that students, staff and faculty have certainty in how classes will be taught throughout the academic year. All University Credit programs and Business Administration programs will be offered through Distributed Learning in your home country.

The advantages of Distributed Learning (online)

  • Long lectures can be presented into smaller sessions and recorded.
  • Provides flexibility to learn how and where students want.
  • Drives pedagogical innovation, creativity, and more learning-centered approaches.
  • Has the potential to expand the reach of the curriculum beyond the classroom and textbook and into the real world.
  • Students have time to think about, and pour meaning into, content and ideas.
  • Reaches people who otherwise couldn’t attend in person.
  • Adds voices from diverse contexts.
  • Instruction can happen from anywhere.

Popular programs

With over two hundred university arts and science courses, you can earn the first two years of a four-year bachelor degree at CMTN, and then transfer directly into the third year of degree programs at BC universities. Or study abroad and transfer those credits to one of our many of our partner institutions throughout the world.

Applied Coastal Ecology Diploma or Post Degree Diploma

The Applied Coastal Ecology (ACE) program readies students for careers in coastal natural resources management, ecosystem restoration, environmental monitoring, and many others. ACE balances foundational learning in areas such as biology, geography, chemistry and oceanography with applied courses in areas such as salmon, ground fish and shellfish management, stream habitat restoration, rainforest ecology, wildlife management, and more.

Pre-Business Program (upgrading)

International students who are interested in starting the Business Administration program at Coast Mountain College but do not meet the English language entry requirements can sign up for this option.Students need to have scored 5.0 with no bands lower than 5.0, but it is recommended that those with scores closer to 6.5 will have a stronger likelihood of success in this program. This program will run January – April 2021, ahead of the May 2021 intake for the Business Administration program.

English proficiency

Take an English Proficiency exam online through the Universal Learning Institute or the Duolingo. Due to COVID-19 face-to-face most English Proficiency exams are not being scheduled at this time. Some IELTS testing centres are starting to reopen now.
