VBS students and volunteers were on the radio!
During the corner ‘Agora of Reunification’ of ‘Echoes of the Gospel’, a program aired by the Fast East Broadcasting Company Korea, Sieun Kim, a mother of a student who participated in our VBS summer program, and volunteer Jarid was introduced. They were interviewed by the program DJ/reporter about the VBS program in terms of its contents, dates, and reviews. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to talk about the blessed work we do.
July Street Campaign
On July 1st, Nehemiah Global Mission Center did a street campaign in front of Starbucks in Shinjung-dong, Yangchun-gu, to raise public awareness of NGI and its ministries. We gave out NGI pamphlets and water bottles illustrated with a map of North Korea. The passersby asked questions about our ministries. It was an excellent opportunity for us to talk to them about reunification. And how important it is to prepare the North Korean refugee students as the leaders who take the right actions in the era of reunification and onward.
Kenneth's testimony sharing
We continue to be restricted in having gatherings due to the impacts of CoVID and social distancing requirements. However, Kenneth Bae has returned to share his experiences in North Korea and how he encountered God during his imprisonment. We are thankful that he could share his testimony with the students at ‘Seungyoung Middle School’ and ‘Healing Church.’ We pray that the experience was an opportunity for the students and the churches in Korea to remember North Korea and stand up for God’s kingdom.
NGI staff Mary and Steve gave birth to their baby
Hello, we are a couple who are serving in NGI as staff.
“On May 29, we became parents to an angelic child. We tried not to get so caught up with the gender of the baby before the birth, and God gave us a baby boy. He was born healthy and strong, weighing 4.1kg (9lbs), and has just now turned 100 days.”
Our staff member, Mary, is still in recovery after giving birth to a healthy baby boy. Giving delivery naturally is stressful on the body and requires healing time. We ask you to pray for her full recovery.
In addition to Mary’s recovery, her husband Breen has been suffering from headaches and back pain. We think this is partially due to the stress of taking care of their newborn baby. Would you please pray with us that he and Mary continue to rest and heal so that they are healthy and strong in their new parenting role? While parenting brings many struggles, it is a worthwhile effort that brings with it an indescribable joy to witness the wonders of creation and be parents to a God-given life. It is also surreal to experience unconditional love pour out for the baby, much like God’s love for us. This is what makes parenting and truly thankful privilege given to us by God!
Shinin Hahm Orchestra donated the tickets to NK refugees
Shinin Hahm Orchestra had their “Delivering the Romantic Russian Passion” concert on Oct. 3rd. They generously donated tickets for its show to North Korean refugee students at NGI. We thank the orchestra and symphony SONG for the privileged opportunity for the eight students attending the concert to experience the rich culture of art.
2 Seminars / Visit to World Vision
NGI, seeking to more efficiently operate the organization and gain cooperation in new and various ministries, had three seminars with professionals from World Vision who gave advice and consultation on finance, planning, NPO operation, and North Korea ministries.
The professionals were Jongtaek Kim(an elder in a church), who had a long career as Chief Finance Officer; Jihoon Moon (Daeunextier), who oversees the donor management; and Hyeyoung Kim, who is the manager of the North Korea ministry. They were generous to review and evaluate our ministry and operation and offer advice on planning and moving forward.
