Diyawanna Lake or Parliament Lake, is one of the lakes within Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Sri Lanka. It is quite popular as the Sri Lankan Parliament Building was built on an artificial island at the center of the lake.

Little Cormorant is a member of the cormorant family of seabirds. It is very commonly seen in water bodies of low country Sri Lanka. Large flocks can be seen in the dry zone in lakes. It is a good swimmer as well as a diver and while fishing it can stay underwater for a while and re-emerged some distance from where it dives.
Grey-headed swamphen (Porphyrio poliocephalus) is a species of swamphen occurring from the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent to southern China and northern Thailand.
The Indian pond heron or paddybird (Ardeola grayii) is a small heron. It is of Old World origins, breeding in southern Iran and east to the Indian subcontinent, Burma, and Sri Lanka.

The purple heron (Ardea purpurea) is a wide-ranging species of wading bird in the heron family, Ardeidae.The purple heron usually breeds in colonies but sometimes the nests are solitary. It sometimes associates with other species such as the goliath heron (Ardea goliath) or grey heron at multi-species nesting colonies. The site chosen is generally in reed beds, canebrakes or low bushes close to large lakes or other extensive wetlands.

The intermediate egret, median egret, smaller egret, or yellow-billed egret (Ardea intermedia) is a medium-sized heron. The intermediate egret stalks its prey methodically in shallow coastal or fresh water, including flooded fields.
The white-throated kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) also known as the white-breasted kingfisher is a tree kingfisher, widely distributed in Asia from the Sinai east through the Indian subcontinent to the Philippines. It can often be found well away from water where it feeds on a wide range of prey that includes small reptiles, amphibians, crabs, small rodents and even birds.
The tricoloured munia (Lonchura malacca) is an estrildid finch, native to Bangladesh,[2] India, Sri Lanka, and southern China. It inhabits wet grassland habitats. It may also be found in tropical lowland moist forest habitats.
The spot-billed pelican (Pelecanus philippensis) or grey pelican, is a member of the pelican family. It breeds in southern Asia from southern Pakistan across India east to Indonesia. It is a bird of large inland and coastal waters, especially large lakes.
