After the initial day for Sports day was rained out, Sports Day for the 2018-2019 school year took place on September 28th, 2018. It was a warm fall day, and students dressed in all colors came out to represent their teams.
The Pipeline Challenge was a chance for the 6, 7, 11, and 12th graders to collaborate in order to move a golfball large distances without dropping it or using their hands. Students had to transport the ball only using pieces of a pipe, and moved it all the way from the 20-yard line to a small bucket at half-field. Dark Blue, Pink, Black, and Red won this event.
Earthball Volleyball, a WIS Sports Day classic, had teams play volleyball against eachother using a giant inflatable beach ball shaped like the world. Burgundy, Light Blue, Orange, White, Light Green, Yellow, and Tan all triumphed in this event.
The running relays are a classic staple of Sports Day: a chance to see each teams' fastest runners compete, side by side.
Dark Blue dominated the relays, followed by Tan and Light Green.
After lunch, it was time for the Tug of War. Easily Sports Day's most significant single event, the Tug of War tests the brute strength of each team and pits them against each other in a battle for dominance and glory.
The Gray and Yellow teams pulverized their competition as they surged to the top of the ranks. When they were pitted against each other, the Yellow team came out on top, but this was no thanks to a tremendous effort put in by Gray.
Finally, the class of '19 and the faculty began their Tug of War. While the seniors really poured their hearts into every tug, the faculty triumphed for another year in a row.
