Multiple Borger ISD facilities received funding for improvements as part of a school bond in 2016. A portion of that bond was dedicated to athletic improvements including replacing the existing Bulldog Stadium which was over 60 years old.
The overall Borger athletic improvements includes a new concession facility, fieldhouse with an indoor practice facility, a soccer locker facility, and a new stadium with press box, grandstands, turf field and track. The layout of this project compliments the existing topography of the site and the school's existing layout.
"The biggest comment I get is 'I can't believe this is Borger.' We have a lot of older coaches who are coming here to compete, and they remember what it used to be like. They just can't believe how nice it is and how great it looks." -Duane Tolliver, Borger Football Coach
Fieldhouse | 55,000 SF
The new fieldhouse includes a locker room, coaches offices and a weight room. The existing fieldhouse was renovated for track and cross country purposes.
The interior design elements were hand selected by the Parkhill and Borger team. The space incorporates high performance carpet, lots of tile and school colors.
"All the finishes you see were hand selected by not only my team internally but also the Borger team. We incorporated lots of tile and highly durable carpet. It's actually a hybrid between hard surface flooring and a carpet... They've standardized it across all of their campuses now." -Alyssa Vance, IIDA
A personalized graphics design package by Elite Graphics and Design of Lubbock, Texas, elevate the design & Borger's school pride. The graphics include photos of Borger's student athletes.
"They were so excited to see what it was going to be, and then seeing the community see all the graphics at the end was amazing. They were so excited about it, and we really wanted that big 'Wow!' moment that first time they walked down the corridor and saw the next graphic." -Nichole Carroway, Architectural Designer
Concession Stand | 4,000 SF
Multi-Sport Indoor Practice Facility | 22,500 SF
Attached to the field house is a 22,500-SF multi-sport indoor practice facility with pole vault insert and batting/golfing nets. This practice facility has the same turf and new turf and root zone fiber layer as the stadium, which again improves shock absorbency and safety. A 6,400-SF wrestling area is attached to this practice facility.
Soccer Locker Facility | 3,600 SF
The soccer locker facility includes girl’s and boy’s lockers rooms, offices and storage.
"To see the kids when they come in with smiles on their faces when they go to the locker room when they go to the weight room - Parkhill, Smith & Cooper and the way they figured this design out is super." -Charles "Pete" Loftis, Director of Environmental Service
