Edgewood MIddle School Special Education Spotlight

The students from Miss Hartman and Miss Louden's homeroom worked with Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Huff's classes to make cards on Wednesday, October 9th. The cards will be sold to raise money for community outings. Once the students finish making all of the cards, Miss Louden's students will help Miss Hudson's students create flyers to sell the cards. They are hoping to build employability skills, fine motor skills, and economic skills during this collaboration. Our students will continue to work and grow together on this project for the remainder of the year!

Edgewood middle school classroom spotlight

Mr. Holland's 7th grade class at EMS is getting a real life lesson in Language Arts, Social Studies and Geography by exchanging pen pal letters with students near Casper, Wyoming. This opportunity presented itself when former Edgewood High School teacher Sarah Dreger moved to Wyoming earlier this year and took a position at Midwest Schools in the Natrona School District. Our Cougars are learning so much about life out west!

Babeck Early Childhood Center Teacher Spotlight

Lisa King and Teresa Bowyer are the Title 1 reading teachers at Babeck ECC. Lisa and Teresa love working with struggling readers and seeing the "lightbulb" go off after working with them. Seeing the progress that these students make over the course of the year makes it such an enjoyable job. They love to see the foundational skills develop in their students which impacts life long learning, especially in reading. They also love working collaboratively with the classroom teachers. Babeck uses a "push in" model where the Title I teachers work hand-in-hand with the classroom teachers during their guided reading block. They get to learn from the classroom teacher and also share what they know. They will be presenting at the November PD day. Thanks Lisa and Teresa for all your hard work!

edgewood elementary School Computer Coding

The students at EES are learning to program and create games that their classmates can play. They are building a computer science foundation. Hopefully this will spark educational interest that they did not know existed.

Edgewood High School FAFSA Completion NIght

On Friday, October 4th, before the Edgewood vs. Ross football game. The EHS counselors along with financial aid representatives from Cincinnati State, Sinclair and the Miami Regionals hosted a FAFSA night were 15 families completed their FAFSA for seniors who plan on going to college next year. Mrs. Conley, EHS College and Career Counselor stated, "FAFSA Completion Night helped give students and families additional support as they navigated the financial aid process. We thank our post-secondary partners for a great experience that helped our Edgewood community."
