Dr. Mae Jemison Biography Dr. Mae Jemison<P>Engineer & Physician<P>Dr. Mae Jemison is an American engineer, physician, and NASA astronaut.  <P>In graduate school, she also studied in Cuba and Kenya, and worked at a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand. <P>She went to college at Stanford to study chemical engineering and was the head of the Black Student Union there. <P>She lived in Chicago from the age of three, and was interested in science and dance as a child. <P>On September 12, 1992,     Dr. Mae Jemison became the first African- American woman to travel to space.  She spent more than 190 hours in space conducting experiments on weightlessness and motion sickness. <P>She was in the Peace Corps doing medical research in Sierra Leone and Liberia,  but when she came back to the U.S., she decided to follow her dream to become an astronaut.  <P>https://adobe.ly/2KLddYQ
