Off-Center Focusing
Manually select your focusing points and choose the ones in the outer areas of the image, or switch the auto focus off and just manually focus the lens.
 
Camera Settings  Aperture mode or manual mode, lowest f/ number, ideally at least f/2 or lower.
Do not worry if your lens is not a very fast lens, you can increase the distance between the background and your subject.  
You can see Bokeh in images that are taken at  apertures like f/8.
