MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to our first Newsletter of the new academic year. It has been a rather different start of term than normal but I am very pleased with how everyone has adapted to our new ways of working. I have continued to be very impressed with how the students are engaging in their learning.
Jim Parker, Principal.
PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCIES
We are pleased to be able to write to you about a vacancy for two Parent Governors on the Academy’s Local Governing Body.
A Parent Governor plays a crucial role as a full member of Lord Grey Academy’s Local Governing Body. The Local Governing Body is responsible for the direction, strategy and policy of the Academy within the context set by the Tove Learning Trust and for promoting high standards of educational achievement, behaviour, conduct and personal development.
If you are interested in the role please speak to Julie Stevens at the Academy to arrange a meeting with me so that you can find out more about the role and for us to discuss the skills and experiences that you could bring to the Academy. The meeting will also provide you with an opportunity to clarify anything that is in the role description, eligibility criteria and information that can be found on the Academy website 'How to Become a Parent Governor' Click here

Summer Project
Our Year 6 students are asked to choose a project to complete during the summer holidays prior to starting at Lord Grey in September. Here is an outstanding poem 'It's the end of the world as we know it...' by Bodhi, E7RBE. I am sure you will agree it is a fantastic poem and Bodhi has received rewards from his Assistant Head and Head of House, his tutor and Assistant Principal, Mrs Harris. Congratulations Bodhi, well deserved.
GAMEATHON
Last year we published in our newsletter information regarding a 'Gameathon', and we are pleased to say that it went really well and all involved were awesome.
The boys played twenty three different games over a twenty four hour period on a mix of Xbox 360, Xbox one and Switch. It was interesting at 8am which was hour twenty, having to do an hour of Just Dance! The last three hours nearly finished them off with tiredness but they did it and raised a whopping £750 in total for the scout group! This is excellent news and we are all really proud of them. Congratulations and well done for giving back to their community. Mrs Bowen, Head of Lorenz House.
COMPUTING & ICT
We would like for all Computing and ICT students to take with them a regular/non expensive pair of earphones for lessons in the ICT rooms. They will be required to use them to listen to and watch video tutorials. This is now necessary that students do not share personal items and it would be ideal for them to have their own. Shereen Pennicooke, ICT Teacher.
BRAISWICK - SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
We have been informed that Braiswick Photographers will be collecting the photograph orders on Wednesday 30 September. Can we please ask that you return your orders before this date. Thank you Student Services.
