In 1525 St. Francis Xavier went to study at the university of Paris were he encountered St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Loyola convinced St. Francis Xavier to join the Jesuit order.
Him and the Jesuits vowed to celibacy, poverty, and also made a promise to visit the holy land.
He became a priest on, June 24, 1537.
Francis did missionary work in India, Japan, and his last mission was to China.
