"Moma has been important in developing and collecting modernist art, and is often identified as one of the largest and most influential museums of modern art in the world. Momas collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art,including works of architecture and design ,drawing, painting, sculpture,photography,prints,illustrated books and artists books,film, and electronic media."

LOCATION

The museum of modern arts is located in Midtown manhattan in New York City, on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The museum was established on November 7th , 1929; 87 years ago.

MoMA became a repository for the world of privilege to flaunt their art collections to the world of privilege. The MoMA’s first exhibition attracted more than 40,000 visitors.

In 1932, The Museum of Modern Art established a curatorial department devoted to collecting architecture and design. Philip Johnson, the department’s founding curator, and Alfred Barr Jr., Director of MoMA, were interested in representing all art forms of the time, including design.
