Lead From the Back:

"Welcome Back to Riding Season"

by Dave Stauffer

Hello LBC members and welcome to new members who took advantage of the National Cycling Month/COVID 19 Free Membership. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. I am pleased that the board approved free membership renewals for all and the response of our members to the causes within the community.

I am excited to see Lancaster County starting to reopen. Unfortunately, no organization can reopen responsibly without having some new procedures in place. Your safety and the safety of anyone whom you meet after leaving one of our rides will remain a concern/responsibility for you, foremost, and for our club.

Rich Brown is hosting a Ride Coordinators meeting for Monday June 1st to determine how and what measures we must institute. The committee and I will be communicating more on this in the coming week.

Regarding club business, our board is excited to invite Deb Arcoleo to assume the role and responsibilities of club treasurer. Thank You Deb.

Hot weather reminders:

Use sunscreen. Melanoma is not fun.

Drink fluids: This is my annual reminder to always carry water and know where to get more. Keep money with you to make any water purchase. Do not be afraid to call for a water stop if you run out. Most likely you are not the only one in your group who needs more water. If you are going longer distances, include some electrolytes.

Lancaster Covered Bridge Classic is planned for August 16th The CBC committee leaders are busy reviewing how they can change their area of responsibility to host a safe event. We will make a final Go/No Go decision the first week in July. Please sign up to volunteer if you are able. Reach out to the committee leader if you are unclear of the requirements or have questions. Sign up on our website under “Volunteering”

Looking forward to a great summer

See you on the road, Dave
