Remuneration threshold to replace combination of ANZSCO and salary to assess skill level
Remuneration to determine following:
- whether an employer needs to engage with MSD to meet the labour market test
- the maximum duration of the visa
- whether the person holding the visa can support a partnership-based work visa
Requirement to mention ANZSCO occupation on INZ 1113 will continue
ANZSCO will continue to be used to determine skilled employment in SMC Applications
Please note that applications approved based on remuneration at or above the median wage may not be considered skilled for the purposes of a SMC application
Applicants earning below $25.50 ph can only support partners on visitor visas
Applicants below $25.50 ph can only support visitor and student visas for dependent children
Applicants above $25.50 ph can support work or visitor visas for partners, and visitor or student visas for dependent children
Please note that dependent children of ESWV holders will only be granted a visitor visa or student visa if their parent(s) annual salary is at or above NZ$43322.76
Occupations to be treated as an exception to certain skill level assessments for SMC residence policy:
- Aged or Disabled Carer
- Nursing Support Worker
- Driller
- Bicycle Mechanic
