Samoëns 2016 A bookclub jaunt

By Carol Sinclair

Wednesday 26th October

Pounding rain - so we started with a fabulous lunch at Le Bistrot de L'Amandier, on the shore of Lac d'Annecy.

Great view from the terrace - but probably much better on a fine day!

Then on to Annecy - rain clearing!

Pavements still wet.
Jenny - why was this so interesting?
Did someone mention chocolate?
A labyrinth of streets and shops.
Sliced through with canals.
Interesting shadows.
Wonderful reflections.
Contrasting architectural styles.
Vibrant colours.
Château d'Annecy.
Admiring the shop displays.
Sun peering through.
Some clouds still lurking!
Les Jardins de l'Europe and Le Pont de l'Amour.
Outside the Mairie.

Thursday 27th October

Heading out of Samoëns today...

A quick photo stop!
Walking up into the mountains.
Thank you Mary, for walking with me!
Stunning scenery.
Sparkling highlights!
Beautiful.

Friday 28th October

The last day of our stay - so we didn't venture too far...

Jaÿsinia botanical gardens in Samoëns.
Cascades,
... trees,
... plants,
... and fabulous views.

Then we just had time for a final walk around Samoëns...

To admire mirror-like lakes...
Les Lacs aux Dames.
Walking alongside the river (Le Giffre).
Rushing water.
Wonderful.

And it was time to fly home!
