How Is One to Market their company & where do I start?
A great place to start for any small business is by looking into all the Free options out there and the ones that cost you close to nothing especially when you first start out.
Of course, there will be option that you can pay in the hundreds for once business picks up.
Pinterest is a great option especially having a company that I would be staging different wedding decor ideas in the boutique. I can also use it to link to the website where potential customers can link directly to where they can rent that particular item they see in the image. You can also use this for keeping up to date with the latest trends in bridal and party decor.
Instagram is much like Pinterest but can also be used for sharing images of employees and any events we may be attending such as the Women's Expo & images of the brides that found their dress at the store posing infront of a company banner. You can even load up special offers and promo codes for customers that follow you on Instagram.
Facebook is another free option that your potential customers and current customers can connect with the company at. They can see reviews of the store right on Facebook and 'Like' the page if they so choose. It would be a great way to show everything that was talked about for Pinterest and Instagram as well. Another great option that you can reach out to another form of customers, there are also options for as low as $5 advertising on Facebook.
Another great way to get a wedding business acknowledgement is to advertise in magazines like Wedding Planner & Guide. Where you will also be featured in their website for prospecting wedding parties. This magazine is a complimentary gift at almost all wedding or bridal stores that our boutique could also give out to brides and they could see what was offered in the greater Madison area. This also gives bride a well organized free planner of their own that they can fill out in the back of the magazine.
We can hand out business cards to all customers as well as potential customers at events/shows as well as if we run into someone that needs what we have. I would want to make the cards accessible for all of our employees to have a couple handy even when they are not at work.

A website like Vistaprint is a perfect resource to creating business cards and any other advertisement that may be needed.
Events such as the Women's Expo and Bridal Shows like these & these. Are great ways to advertise for your business. Many of these events are paid for by the potential customers so they are looking to see what is out there for their options and are willing to hear your sales pitch. We would be talking face to face with many potential clients at events such as the ones listed on the websites above. Many can cost around $500-800 on average to have a booth for your company, but once the company is thriving well enough these kinds of investments would be worth the customer-company interactions.
A creative way to get potential customers to stop in is to have a great deal, discount, or free prize that they can get for their wedding just because they stopped during that event. For example, because I signed up for my DJ service at the Bridal Expo in Madison that day, I received a $400 discount and in return they got my confirmed business.
