How are we ending week 7 so soon? How are we celebrating the 7th week of amazing learning across the school already? This term is flying by and every week I grow a little bit prouder of everyone. At the beginning of the year we explored our new vision and 7 weeks in we can really see the children, the staff, the community starting to live a breath it!
Developing a respectful, responsible and resilient community. Empowering articulate, confident and independent individuals who have the skills and are ready for life long learning.
This half term we have focused on becoming historians and across school we have explored a variety of different time periods from recent history to ancient times and even exploring changes following a theme across a wider period of time. Children have really been absorbed in their learning and it’s been great to see so many questions being asked but then children having the skills to be able to find the answers.
I have had the pleasure of teaching Year 6 today! I just hope they have enjoyed it as much as me!
Something very special about WCPS is that we are a family and it’s great to see how new members have slotted in so well! That includes new staff (Mrs Green, Miss Creamer, Miss Rodgers and Mr Ogden) new children, and new families. I can’t thank you all enough.

KS2 pupils will have bought home their home learning Halloween poetry pack. This is a competition being run across WCPS, Ward Green, Hoyland Common, Milefield and Mapplewell Primary schools. Let’s try our best, cross our fingers and hope that we can win some new books for our new library space. 🎃
Entries need to be in early next week so we can send them off to the judges.
Attendance
This week attendance has dropped for the week and is only 95.5%.
Our overall attendance for the year has remained the same and is
95.8%
Can we give it one last push to see if we can pull it up to 96% by half term?
Class 1 has had the lowest attendance this week with 7 pupils off for 3 or more days which means their attendance is only 79.7%. Let see if your class can make the difference next week! Every class with 100% attendance next week earns a whole class treat on Friday afternoon!
Punctuality has improved this week but we can still see the impact that arrivals are having on attainment of the children. Alarms need to be set for next week!
On Monday and Tuesday next week we have parents evenings. If you haven’t already booked your appointment please see Class teachers.
We will have a space for children to be while you attend your appointments, refreshments and cakes for sale, Usbourne book stand, Road Saftey stand and members of the PTA available too!
Please donate cakes and buns for us to sell and you to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
We will also be launching our brand new website so please do visit the immersive hall either before or after your appointments.
