What causes diabetes?

Diabetes is caused by the immune system destroying the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. Without enough insulin the body practically starts attacking itself.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of diabetes usually happen quickly. Some symptoms are hunger, fatigue, more urination, and dry itchy skin.

How is diabetes spread among humans?

Diabetes is not contagious, and happens inside the body. Type 1 diabetes is when the body has a lack of insulin, and Type 2 is when patients have resistance for its utilization within the body.

How can diabetes be prevented?

A few tips to prevent diabetes is manage your weight, exercise regularly, and eat a healthy balanced diet. You should also stop smoking, and reduce your alcohol intake.

What is the medical treatment for diabetes?

For Type 1 diabetes patients, insulin should be taken everyday, eat a diabetes meal plan, exercise, and check your blood pressure regularly.

Diabetes mellitus literally means “sweet urine,” as those with the disease tend to pass a great deal of sugar when they pee. Humans aren’t the only animals that can suffer from diabetes. Unfortunately, animals can get it as well.
