Flying out of Wausau (Central Wisconsin Airport) was a breeze as we departed quite early to get a partial afternoon in Seattle. Upon arrival we took the light rail from the airport ($3) to downtown and got off at the Westlake station knowing we probably had a few blocks to walk. Hotels in Seattle are very expensive ($300 nt/average in high season) so we chose a Holiday Inn Express near the Space Needle. We were melting by time we arrived after a torturous 10+ block hike in the 85 degree heat. Our hotel was fine and we ended up with a suite. The Space Needle was about 3-4 long blocks away and was a good landmark to be based near.
Recently they added a revolving glass floor which is kind of creepy if you don’t like heights. It gives a bird’s eye view of the city. Luckily the smoke from the fires had dissipated a little bit so we could see pretty far. We purchased a combo ticket for this and the Chihuly exhibit next door for $53 (senior rate). It’s pretty expensive considering the St Louis Arch is $7-8. .
We loved this exhibit!! A must see!!
