Teen STEAM Summer Camp 2018

What is the STEAM Camp?

It's an amazing six week program centering around Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math. This six week program included topics such as the circus, circuit bending, app making, permaculture, astronomy, and biomedical engineering.

Week 1

We focused on building confidence, practicing skills, and learning science all through the art of the Circus!

Week 2

We learned about different waves through sound. Also, we learned how to circuit bend and hack to create a personal synthesizer.

Week 3

We learned how to program an app for a specific non-profit. These non-profits involved were The Jane Goodall Center, The Women's Center, and Ann's place.

Week 4

At the Jane Goodall Center we learned about permaculture and how it positively affects the environment.

Week 5

We learned about astronomy by comparing densities, volume, and the mass of different planets to each other by using mathematical formulas. The last day of this week included going inside of a planetarium to explore the lore of the constellations and put the planets sizes' in perspective.

Week 6

The last week of this program we focused on biomedical engineering; specifically analyzing the knee to make a prosthetic, dissect a cow's knee, and to look under a microscope!
