Schema theory Social studies back table

What is Schema Theory?

Schema Theory states that all knowledge is organized into units.

A Schema is a conceptual system for understanding knowledge. Using schemas one can understand how knowledge is represented and how it is used.

How does this Theory translate into instructional practices?

Like the video above shows people tend to learn better once new information is related back to prior knowledge. So when teaching new information, teachers should relate it back to old already known information.
