Ms. Tovar 5th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies Enjoy my story!

Hello 5th Grade Literature and Social Sciences Lorca Scholars!

My name is Ms. Tovar and I am honored to be your fifth grade teacher this year. I have been teaching for many years (yes, I am a dinosaur) and my students have been all ages.

We will work very hard this year, and I have high expectations for all of you. But I also promise to make learning fun and exciting, because I believe that people learn better when they’re having a good time.

One way we’ll have some fun and learn at the same time is to do hands-on activities and projects. For example, we will integrate arts to practice our reading skills.

I also love history. In my previous school, I helped my students participate in the History Fair competition. They made some really amazing projects. In fact, 11 of my students worked so hard that they were invited to Washington D.C., to represent Illinois in National History Day! See, hard work pays off.

Now let me tell you something about myself. I am married and I have two daughters. I love to travel and to read about distant lands. My husband claims that I always have a backpack ready to go! He is absolutely right, my backpack in under our bed. One more important fact: my family loves rabbits and dogs. Our family has a golden labrador, Cassie.

I take my task as a teacher very seriously. Receiving a high quality education has opened many, many doors for me, and I want to pay it forward to your child. I will provide a learning environment that is very challenging, but also nurturing, and that takes into consideration the specific educational and social needs of your child. I am happy to count you and your child as my partners this year.
