MLK Day of Service

We are one week away from our MLK Day of Service. This is the biggest annual city-wide community project we undertake. Please join us on Monday, Jan. 20th at 8:30 am at Athens High School for this fantastic event. We have an incredible program to kick off the morning this year, and then we will all go into the gyms to begin our service.

For the first time, we are able to take ONLINE DONATIONS, which will go directly to help fund our MLK service projects. There is a clickable link on every TSD website—or you can click on the link above to consider donating whatever you feel comfortable giving. There are also three boxes located in the hallway outside of the Baker Middle School main office.

Winter I Athletics

Save the Date: Volleyball Tryouts are January 27-29.

Our first week back in school after the holiday break proved to be a big week in sports for the Bobcats. Our boy's basketball teams ended the week with back to back victories against VanHoosen. The seventh grade game ended with an end of the game possession putting the Bobcats in the lead. It was a thrilling victory and a feel good moment for the team after a very tough season.

On Saturday, January 11th, the Baker Cheer Team competed against several schools from around the Oakland country at the Troy Athens Invite. There was a packed house and a high level of competition. In Baker fashion, the girls stood tall and wowed the judges. We are proud of both of our programs and their hard work this season. This was a great week for our teams and fun to watch!

January 13 – January 16, 2020

Michigan law requires the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) to provide no cost vision screenings to preschool and school-age children. Vision Technicians are not medical doctors and, therefore, do not diagnose conditions or prescribe treatment. However, they help identify potential concerns related to a child’s eye health.

Children who already wear glasses will be screened with glasses/contacts on, so they are not referred for unnecessary further medical evaluation.

Parents/Guardians will be notified if their child does not pass the screening, is absent, or the technician is unable to screen their child. If needed, a referral letter to follow-up with the appropriate doctor will also be provided. State of Michigan law requires OCHD to request follow-up documentation that a child who has received this referral receives further evaluation by a physician.

All 7th grade students will be screened unless the school office is notified by a parent/guardian. For more information regarding screenings, call (248) 424-7070 or email: hearingandvision@oakgov.com

The Bobshop

Hello and welcome to the Baker Bob Shop! We really appreciate you signing up to volunteer. The shift runs every school day from 11:15am - 1:00pm. On these days we need one Shop Keeper, with the exception of Tuesdays and Fridays. These are Candy Days and usually very busy, so we ask for two Shop Keepers.

Don't worry if you have not volunteered in the past. There are directions in the Bob Shop, and Jennifer Molotky is there most days as a noon aide. She is overseeing the Bob Shop this year and is happy to help anyone who needs it!

Please review the slots using the link below and sign up where you can. Be mindful to let everyone have a chance to take a spot so as to be fair. Again, we really appreciate your willingness to help out and have fun Shop Keepers!! Feel free to email or text me any questions.

They are willing to donate a portion of the proceeds back to Baker. These funds go directly into the classroom, impacting all Baker students. If you have not registered yet with Kroger or Amazon, simply click on the links below to find out how. Please consider asking your family and friends to sign up for this FREE benefit for our Bobcats. Thank you for support of the Baker PTO.
