Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
ZONE SWIMMING CARNIVAL
It was great to see so many of our students representing our school at the Zone Swimming Carnival after our very successful School Swimming Carnival which was won by the students from Thorpe House. Thank you to Ms Hillman for organising the carnivals.
South West Sydney Health will be screening students who have applied for the service this coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It is very important for these checks to occur so that the students’ health can be monitored.
We have our annual Stage 3 Food Festival coming up next week with students from K-2 classes able to purchase food and drink on Wednesday and, on Thursday, our Years 3-6 students can enjoy some yummy food. The cost is $5 and needs to be paid on the day of the Festival. The money raised from this Festival will be used by the Stage 3 students to fund their end of year activities.
P AND C ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
On Tuesday, March 17, from 9.00 am, the P and C will hold its Annual Meeting to decide on the committee and officers. The positions which need to be filled are: President, 2 Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer. We have a very active and happy P and C group and would like to have more parents and carers join in to find out more about the school and help organise some of our fun activities. If you would like to know about the positions, please contact Iaeli Aunei.
Following this meeting, we will have a presentation from Cabramatta High School about Mental Health for students with ideas for supporting your children.
We will also discuss our next Parents’ and Carers’ excursion. We provide free tea, coffee and delicious treats from Sue, our SACC Facilitator and Sharon, our Treasurer. I hope that you can attend.
Mr Nile will be leaving us at the end of Week 8 after working at our school since 2009. Mr Nile is an extremely hard working and caring teacher who has helped hundreds of students in his time at Cabramatta. His special interest in Maths (Maths Cup, Maths Fun Day), PE (Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming), Student Wellbeing and assessment has meant that he has provided terrific programs for our students. We wish him well in the next chapter of his life and sincerely thank him for all that he has done for our students and community.
2021 SELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL
21 of our Year 6 students will sit for the Selective High School test on Thursday March 12 at Fairfield High School. Following this test and school assessments the best students will be offered places at an academically selective high school. Last year, 12 of our Year 6 students gained a position in a selective high school for this year. We wish our students well for the test.

Halogen National Young Leaders Day
On the 2nd of March, eleven of our Year 6 SRC students attended the Halogen Leaders Day event at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour. They came together with many other students from all around NSW to be inspired as future leaders.
Our students had the privilege of listening to many inspiring people including talk show presenter and children’s book author Rove McManus, news presenter Erin Molan and Australian netball champion Bianca Chatfield. The students enjoyed listening to the success stories of the speakers and came away with an understanding of some very important life lessons.
On behalf of Cabramatta SRC, we would like to thank the school in providing such a great opportunity to our senior SRC members.
