Project-based teaching is a key to keeping students engaged and applying their knowledge in different ways, and many projects have earned legendary status, such as the 8th Grade Dig, when students create artifacts for their classmates to unearth, identify, and put in their museum.

“In Mr. Bak’s class in 6th grade, I made a lantern to represent North America for his continents project,” says Kyo, a self-described history nerd.

I like hands-on learning. I can’t just stare at a book. I like to see and touch things to understand how they work.”
