The Alchemist Visual/Textual advice by Tommy Long P.4

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: The fear of failure" (146).

Failure is the one thing that stops us from achieving our dreams. Its there to make you want to work harder towards achieving your dreams and while avoiding failure, experience the world around you and immerse yourself into it. A dream is not just about achieving it, it's also the experience that you've had in your adventure.

"You'll spend the rest of your days knowing that you didn't persue your personal legend, and that now it's too late" (124.)

The one thing we all think of before our last breath on this world is the things we didn't do in life or achieved. If we don't decide to do the things we want to do now, it'll never be able to come true later in life.

"Naturally, it's afraid that, in persuing your dream, you might lose everything you've won" (133)

The one struggle we all have with life is taking risks. We are afraid of failure when taking risks to achieve our dreams. You have to be brave and courageous to take risks and hope for the best you succeed in it.

"They come in search of new things, but when they leave, they are basically the same people they were when they arrived. they climb the mountain to see the castle, and they wind up thinking that the past was better than we have now" (11).

Its better to live in the present than past. The past is a memory that you could never change. But in the present, you still have infinite amounts of chances to change your life around. Change what you can now and not later or you'll regret it for your life.

"One afternoon, on a visit to his family, he had summoned up the courage to tell his that he didn't want to become a priest, that he wanted to travel" (11).

Live out life the way you want to live it. Don't have people tell you things not to do and to do. You are the only one in control of your life, not others. They may serve as guides towards your dreams, but that's the most they can do to help. You have to be able to carry yourself along the way.
