Note from our Head

It has been wonderful offering our 3 teachers that had to change their wedding plans this year a small, but we hope meaningful, Oakfield celebration today. Thank you to all for getting involved and bringing joie de vivre to the proceedings.

In terms of other things which we are having to alter this year, we are ramping up planning for some great Oakfield Christmas content so even though we cannot have our usual plays and church services there will still be festive cheer to share as the nights draw in. You will be hearing and seeing much more of this over the next fortnight. In the meantime I wish you all lovely weekends.

Wedding Day

Today we marked and celebrated the 3 Oakfield teachers (Mrs Winter, Ms Butler and Ms Salter) who had to postpone their weddings due to the pandemic. And what a day we had!

The children and teachers dressed as wedding guests, Angela and the catering team baked an incredible wedding cake, a string quartet performed over lunch and bouquets were thrown!

In Lower Foundation the children designed their own bride and groom outfit. Spiffing outfits they are too!

Can you guess which Oakfield staff are in which wedding photo? Of course you can because we haven’t aged at all!!

Design a T-Shirt Competition

Great entries below which were put forward to the competition by Oakfield children. Good luck everyone!

LOWER FOUNDATION

It has been a busy week in Lower Foundation this week! We have been carrying on discussing our homes and different types of houses by linking to the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children have been using natural resources to build their own houses as well as construction equipment, such as Duplo. We have had some fantastic creations!

We had a wonderful time on Wednesday with our first Perform Workshop. We went on a magical adventure of ‘Fairytales and Fables’. It was wonderful to see the children use their imaginations and follow the directions of group leader so well. Wonderful listening ears everyone – well done!

Friday was ‘Wedding Day’! Thank you to those who dressed up - we had some wonderful looking guests at our role play wedding! We all decorated cakes using a variety of different media and enjoyed listening to the story by Julia Donaldson, ‘The Scarecrow’s Wedding’.

UPPER FOUNDATION

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week we have been looking at Children’s Rights and discussed the different rights that children have. We looked at the difference between needs and wants. We wrote out a list of all the rights that we could remember.

In Maths, we have been looking at finding one or two more or less than a given number. We have used lots of different ways to count out different amounts including using a number line and different counters.

We have been talking about having respect for each other, and what it means to work together as a team. We created friendship wreaths, by painting a primary or secondary colour onto our palms and hi-fiving one of our friends with a different coloured hand to make a secondary or tertiary colour. We then used the new colour to create a handprint on our friendship wreaths.

With best wishes,

Miss Treppass and Mrs. Barrett Nnochiri

Y3 children discussing Children's rights around the world. They worked in groups to come up with a set of rights that they believe should be in place to protect children no matter what culture, background, religion, ethnicity, etc.
