Esikohale tõusid installatsioon, foto, performance, video. Teemaks olevikulisus ja päevakajaline problemaatika. Tekkisid uutel alustel toimivad institutsioonid: Soorose Kaasaegse Kunsti Eesti Keskus, (aastas 1999. a. Kaasaegse Kunsti Keskus) ja Eesti Kultuurkapital. Põlvkondade vaheline lõhe.
