Note from Mr Higginbottom

Hello! We've had a brilliant week of learning and a fabulous sporting achievement too! Some of our Y5 and Y6 footballers played in the Swinton and Kilnhurst round of the Totty Cup on Monday. They won this stage of the tournament, which is credit to their excellent skills and teamwork - well done to all involved! Special thanks to Mr Gillespie who has given his time to run the Thursday after-school football club and supported our children. The next stage of the Totty Cup tournament will be played in February - we will keep you updated about our progress!

We have invested £7000 in new phonic reading books that are being used in key stage 1. This is part of our continued development in children's reading. Please help us to care for and value these books so that lots of children benefit from them - and remember that listening to your child read or sharing a story with them at least 4 times a week will help them to make great progress.

Please could you support our uniform expectations by ensuring that children have the correct school uniform at all times, including a PE uniform.

The class with the highest attendance this week was Y3/4T with 99.3% - well done! All classes were above 90% this week.

Parents' Evenings

Parents' evening appointments are now available for booking on Arbor for all classes. You'll notice that there is the option for a telephone appointment or you can come to school to meet your child's teacher. Please make sure that you're aware which evening is telephone or in person for the type of appointment you have made or want to make. Please talk to Mrs Stone in the school office if you have any issues making an appointment.

Thank you for your continued support of our school and for supporting your child by ensuring they're at school on time and they read at least 4 times each week. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's time in school you can email enquiries@sqp.wwpat.org, find me on ClassDojo or chat to me at the start or end of the school day.

At Swinton Queen Primary School, children are aspirational, courageous and inquisitive; respectful of all.
