Mindful Mondays In Person and on Zoom, October 18, 10:30 a.m., room 105: Offered by Rev. Bill Roth and Parish Nurse Lauren Smith. Learn to embody the present moment with compassionate awareness and discover the emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits of meditative practices. Middle School Mayhem, October 22, 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.: Join us for a night at Awe Shucks Corn Maze. We will gather at the church and ride together in the church vans. Cost is $15 per youth, and everyone needs to bring money for dinner. We need parent volunteers/van drivers. Click here to sign up.

Youth Serving the City: Charlotte Green, October 23, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Wilmore Gardens: Join us to work in this local community garden. Please bring gloves and small clippers. New - Grief Support Workshop: The Mystery of God’s Presence With Us, Mondays, November 1-15, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., room 103: Led by Rev. Bill Roth and Parish Nurse Lauren Smith, this workshop is designed to assist and support those grieving a loss. This will be a time of sharing individual journeys and coming to a deeper understanding of the grief process. Register in Realm or email Carmen Rivera at crivera@mpumc.org. New Episode - Beyond Baptism: Children and Anxiety: Amy Jo Alspaugh revisits our conversation on children and anxiety, joined this time by Kim Enicks, a licensed therapist and clinical social worker. Kim works with children and adults and has comforting words and advice to help us all. She believes mindfulness and self-care are more than buzzwords; they are necessary for parents to be able to take care of their families. Beyond Baptism: Wisdom, Encouragement and Hope for Parents, created by Children’s Ministries and Youth Ministries, is intended for parents and adults invested in the young people of our church. New - Loaves & Fishes Warehouse Volunteers, second Monday of the month, 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.: Missions is offering an ongoing volunteer opportunity through our local community partner Loaves & Fishes. Volunteers will package kits filled with donated canned goods. Loaves & Fishes requires a minimum of 10 warehouse volunteers, so please click here to sign up if you are interested in this service opportunity!

Fall Block Party, October 29, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Parish Life Building Parking Lot: Round up your friends and neighbors, grab your tailgate chairs and picnic blankets, and head over to MPUMC in costume, if you so desire, for an evening of fun and fellowship for all ages. Purchase dinner and dessert from our food trucks, which will serve family-friendly fare. Then enjoy music and entertainment provided by DJ Jeremy. The God Who Sees Series, Mondays, November 1-22, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Jubilee Hall: Join us as we gather in person for education, inspiration, and discussion of the topics central to our church's mission work: Affordable Housing, Food Insecurity, Schools and Children, and Equity and Empowerment. There will be theological reflection (why does this matter to our faith), and local experts will provide context for these issues within Charlotte. Bus Station Ministry, Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.: Welcome legal asylum seekers as they journey through Charlotte. Your gifts of welcome and presence can be a real blessing to these tired, anxious, and uncertain travelers. Pick up snacks, water, activities, hygiene supplies, and signage at the church on Wednesday mornings and meet bus #1098 at the Greyhound bus station at 518 W 4th Street. Travel with Dr. Howell to Israel, April 23-May 3, 2022: Spring is a beautiful time of year to be in Israel! The cost, which includes flights, hotels, ground costs, and most meals, will be about $4,395. We say “about” as we can only guess at flights right now. Could be less! Probably not more. Lucie Baxter Dulin, mother of David Dulin and Albert Dulin, grandmother of Madison Dulin, Baxter Dulin and Katie Volk, and aunt of Jan Dulin Sullivan, Ashley Blevins, Charlie Dulin, and Baxter Hayes, who died on October 9.

Jack Nelson Jordan, Sr., father of Jack (Liz) Jordan, who died on October 10.

Tommy Coble Ishee IV, son of Jennifer and Trey Ishee, who died on October 10.

Noah Wesley Charles, son of Caitlin and Kevin Charles and grandson of Linda and Larry Walter, who was born on August 24.
