Building Godly Relationships A Bible Study

A Study in the Book of Ephesians

Read Ephesians 4

As you read through Ephesians 4, list out specific instructions regarding relationships.

Can you find these instructions?

  • Be humble, gentle, bear with one another.
  • Keep unity.
  • Speak the truth.
  • Don't lie to each other.
  • Watch your anger.
  • Watch your words.
  • Be kind and forgiving.

Read Ephesians 5:1-4. What principles of relationships can we learn from these verses?

Read Ephesians 5:21 - 6:4

In the verses above, name the specific instructions to different family members.

Each family member has the same value and different roles. The self-sacrifice of the husband (modelled after Jesus) sets the tone for the family. When the husband follows his God-given instructions, it becomes so much easier for the wife and children to also follow God in their family roles.
Read Ephesians 6:5-9 - What are God's instructions to employers and employees?

Read Ephesians 6:10-18. Think about the context of relationships as you read this often quoted passage on spiritual warfare.

Point: The main target of the enemy's attack is on our relationships.

Conclusion: Fight the right enemy. And that enemy is not each other. The main way to fight the enemy of your relationships is through the Word of God and prayer.
