ROAD TO A CHAMPIONSHIP

Women, men's soccer teams both host NCAA First & Second Rounds, both capture regional titles and earn berths in NCAA Sweet 16.
The UChicago women's soccer team captured its second-straight NCAA Division III regional title with victories over St. Catherine and Hope in the first two rounds of the tournament, held Nov. 10-11 at Stagg Field.
The Maroon men's soccer team then matched the women, topping both Lake Forest and Capital in the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament to earn their second-straight regional title.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

After capturing wins in the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the UChicago women's soccer team is set to host the Round of 16 and Quarterfinal matches at Stagg Field Friday & Saturday. The winner of the four-team sectional will advance to the Final Four, set for Dec. 1 in Greensboro, N.C.

Jenna McKinney scored two goals and added an assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over Wheaton.

MEN'S SOCCER

FIRST & SECOND ROUND RECAP

The UChicago men's team scored six-straight goals to come from behind in a 6-2 win over Lake Forest College in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at Stagg Field. Andre Abedian, center, scored two goals in the win.

Junior Matthew Koh scored both goals in the Maroons' 2-0 win over Captial that sent UChicago to its second-straight NCAA Sweet 16.

CROSS COUNTRY

With their fifth-place finish at the 2017 Midwest Regional Championships, the Maroon women's cross country team earned its eighth-straight trip to this weekend's NCAA Championships.

BACK-TO-BACK REGIONAL CHAMPION

Khia Kurtenbach beat the 263-runner field at Saturday's NCAA Midwest Regional to earn her second-straight regional championship for the Maroons. The UChicago women placed fifth in the team standings to earn their eighth-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Senior Khia Kurtenbach earned her fifth UAA Athlete of the Week honor after nabbing her second-straight NCAA Midwest Regional championship Saturday, finishing with a time of 20:41 in the 6K, 263-runner race.

Three Maroon women's runners earned all-region honors, as senior Kelsey Dunn (21st) and first-year Maggie Boudreau (31st) also finished in the Top 35 to earn all-region status.

SOLID FINISH TO 2017

The UChicago men's cross country team took sixth place in the 36-team NCAA Midwest Regional, improving its finish by three places from a year ago. The men concluded their season at the meet, as they just missed out on an at-large berth to the NCAA Championship meet.

The Maroon men placed sixth in the 2017 NCAA Midwest Regional held in Rock Island, Ill.
Sophomore Ralph Patejunas led the way for the Maroons with his all-region finish, placing 33rd with a time of 24:27.
  • First-years Ryan Cutter (40th, 24:35) and Jordan Olson (41st, 24:36) rounded out the top three finishers for the Maroon men's team.

FOOTBALL

Senior Chandler Carroll had a day in his final game in a Maroons uniform, running for 236 yards and two TDs to earn Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

GOING OUT WITH A BANG

UChicago 33, Lake Forest 13

The Maroon football team ended its season on a high note, defeating Lake Forest College handily in a 33-13 win on the road during Midwest Conference Championship Week.

Senior Chandler Carroll had another big day for the Maroons, running for 236 yards and 2 TDs in his final game to help UChicago top Lake Forest, 33-13.
Senior Andrew Beytagh capped his career in fitting fashion -- with a 98-yard, extra-point interception return for two points late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's win over Lake Forest.

MIDWEST CONFERENCE HONORS

Five Maroons made the Midwest Conference First-Team: RB Chandler Carroll, DB Jeremy Vincent, DL Peter Casey, OL Doug Barkauski, and OL Tucker Squires. First-year DL Jackson Ross was also tabbed as the North Division Newcomer of the Year.

NCAA MOMENTS

The Maroons drew host Illinois Wesleyan in the NCAA First Round, falling to the No. 14 Titans, 3-0. UChicago completed a stellar season with 23 victories and their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

After qualifying for the program's seventh NCAA Division III Tournament with an at-large berth, the Maroon volleyball team concluded a stellar season with 3-0 setback to No. 14 Illinois Wesleyan. UChicago finished a stellar campaign with 23 victories.

The Midway Classic is back, as both UChicago men's and women's basketball teams kick off their seasons Saturday and Sunday at the Ratner Athletics Center.

After taking a week off from competition, the Maroon men's & women's swimming & diving teams are back in action with the three-day Phoenix Fall Classic Nov. 17-19 at Meyers-McLoraine Pool.

WRESTLING

A trio of first-years -- Jason Crary, Will Hare and Quinton Mincy, all earned fourth-place finishes in the Maroons' season opener at the Trine Invitational Saturday.

FIRST-YEAR SUCCESS

Three Maroon first-years led the way for UChicago's wrestling team at Saturday's Trine Invitational, as Jason Crary, Will Hare and Quinton Mincy all placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

"Ten freshmen scoring points at this season-opening invite was impressive and the guys did a good job. Even most of their losses were close ones. We had two goals for these rookies - compete hard and learn. They accomplished both." - Head Coach Leo Kocher

UChicago followed up that performance with Tuesday's 31-9 throttling of Elmhurst in nonleague dual competition.

Junior Jason Lynch recorded the most points against Elmhurst, winning by a technical fall at 184 pounds, 18-1.
