We're celebrating our first birthday with a trip down memory lane.
Holy moly, what a ride it's been. So many ups and downs. So many milestones and so many achievements we can't help but feel proud.

The weekend of 22 & 23 April 2016; we sold our first coffee
Our first 'this is really happening' roast.
Formally known as the 'milk blend' because we couldn't decide on a name. Finally, after eight months, it was christened 'Gratitude' which really sums up how we feel about the Extraction journey.
Serving 'gratitude' beans to you everyday reminds us of all we have to be thankful for.

We have been lucky enough to attract some truly amazing work colleagues. Some of them have now moved onto other opportunities but Danilo and Dan have been with us from day one and they both embody all of the values that are important to us. Work hard and the rewards will come. It may not happen overnight but if you do what you love and do it with passion, then you're on the right track to success and both of these men work with passion.
We were so proud to win the Logan Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Hospitality Business Distinction Award.
...and a few months later, equally proud to win the Logan City Urban Design Award.
We also had the opportunity to host the 2016 ASCA Qld Regional Coffee Awards with Danny placing 2nd in the Brewers Cup competition.
...and to finish a very busy year, we recently won a Silver Medal in the International Coffee Awards and Danilo placed 2nd in the first ever Australian Roasting Competition. Such a fantastic achievement in one year. We are so proud of Danilo. His passion for coffee and his skill as a barista, trainer and roaster inspires us all.
In the kitchen
From day one, Chef Dan has worked magic in the kitchen. He has created four beautiful menus for the cafe and strives for excellence everyday, taking pride in every plate of food. We feel such gratitude for all that he brings to Extraction.
He has also catered several fine dining corporate dinners and our first ever pop-up restaurant for Valentines night. Watch this space as we continue to develop more ideas for pop-up evening dinners.
In one year
In one year, you've enjoyed approximately 6638 12oz lattes and and eaten approximately 12,562 eggs on sourdough. In one year, you've talked with us, laughed with us and let us into your lives. You have allowed us to become part of your daily or weekly routine and we feel nothing but gratitude to you and your families. We continue to jump over hurdles that all start-up businesses experience but we are learning to stress less, live in the moment more and realise that we are doing the best we can with what we have.
