Art Forum Newsletter February 2017

Welcome to 2017!

It has been a cold and curious winter so far. Hope that has given many of you the opportunity to stay indoors and create art.

We need two volunteers to help hang our show at New Zone. If you can help, please contact Patricia at

Art Forum Opportunities

New Zone - Art Forum Exhibit - January 30th. Please bring 1-2 pieces to New Zone Gallery, 220 West 8th Ave., between 3:30 and 5:00. Email Cenya ( with your tag info. Please see info in this newsletter about new tagging method. Also, please consider bringing a "snack" to be served on First Friday (to show community). The snacks won't be put out until the First Friday (5 days) so items like unopened chips, crackers or non refrigerated items would be best. Or you can bring anything on First Friday. New Zone members can bring their pieces during the New Zone meeting.

New Tagging Information

To avoid confusion when hanging our shows, we now have a new tagging system. Every piece exhibited needs to have a tag on the back or the bottom (3D art) that has the following information:

You can make up your own tags or Patricia has some already printed up. Plus you need to email this information to Cenya ( one week or more before the show, for the tags that will hang on the wall. By cross checking the two tags, we can make sure that all information, especially pricing, is the same. Thanks so much for doing this.

Art Forum Challenge

The monthly challenge is optional. Members may use this opportunity to stretch themselves and create something out of their comfort zone or they may bring another piece that is unrelated to the theme for "show and tell". The Theme for February is "Courage".

Get Your Art Out Of The Closet!

If you have spare time on the internet, check out other art facilities in towns outside of Eugene. Corvallis, Brownsville, Roseburg, etc all put on great art show to visit, and they regularly have open shows that our members can show in. If you find any Calls to Artists, please let Cenya know so we can get it in the newsletter or bring it to the meeting.

Patricia is trying to compile a list of places to show art. This, of course, could be for group or solo shows. If you happen to know of any venues, we could use details such as venue, contact person and email/phone number. Please email to Patricia,
