NOVA Cruise 2018 A photo essay by Slobodan Blagojevic

In December 2018, a group of 30+ grad and undergrad students, professors, and guests embarked on a study cruise trip to Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Mexico, and Cuba, to visit entrepreneurs in those countries. These are my photographic impressions:

Faces

Big smiles and happy faces (from upper left, clockwise): Tanya, Charissa, Katrina (our Jamaican tour guide) - click on image for a larger view
From top, clockwise: Sandra, a Havana cigar vendor, cruise entertainer, Jia
Now you know why it is called Grand Cayman: Sandra, Chase, a cigar maker
Music & happiness: mariachi on the beach in Cozumel, Mexico, Havana sax player, a happy dancer
A few more lovely faces: Charissa, Tristin, Sandra, Tanya, a Havana T-shirt vendor
Not everyone in Havana was smiling

Places

Our first port of call was Montego Bay, Jamaica. Sorry, no images... it was mostly rain and one long traffic jam. We did get to see a statue of their famous son, Usain Bolt. I did not take a picture of it, though. Instead, I offer this visual humor: 🙂

Our next stop was Grand Cayman:

Our cruise ship and one cocky rooster, about to cross the road 😊

After a sunny day on the beach in Cozumel, Mexico, arriving to a rainy Havana... what a difference the weather can make:

Havana Harbor (2018 vs. 2017)

Our first visit to entrepreneurs in Cuba was inside the Loyola Faith and Culture Center, linked to a church:
