Welcome to your ELI@FIU experience! Where else in the world would you go to be worlds ahead?

At the ELI, we know that studying English in the U.S. is about much more than what you learn in the classroom. We recognize the importance of cultural immersion.

Our goal is to help you learn English, while exploring Miami's wonders.

ELI students enjoy a full program of activities designed to make their stay a pleasant and memorable experience.

Events around Miami

Here are some of the events we organize for our students in order to experience Miami's lifestyle: Universal Studios, SkyZone, Everglades, Santa's Enchanted Forest, Miami Beach, Miami Zoo, bowling, karaoke, kayaking, ice-skating, and dinner at a local restaurant.

At the ELI@FIU is not all about exploring Miami and attending events. Our students follow a rigorous curriculum and intensive class schedule.

Our motto:

Full-time schedule

There are 4 daily classes that you will attend: grammar, reading & vocabulary, writing, and communication. Classes are from Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.

Placement in levels according to ability

You will be placed in a level in each class according to your ability. For example, if you're better at English grammar, you could be placed in Grammar 3. On the other hand, if you struggle with English conversation, you might be placed in Communication 2.

Presentations & Projects

You will have the opportunity to practice your presentation skills. Many of our classes include projects and presentation components that will help you develop your public speaking skills, which are necessary for university classes.

Homework & Lab Assignments

Learning is all about practicing. That's why your teachers will assign you homework and lab projects. Here at the ELI our students LOVE homework because they get a chance to practice what they've learned.

Midterm & Final exams

Learning should be measured in order to see improvement. You will have two examinations that will allow you to review and test your knowledge on each of the skills: grammar, reading & vocabulary, writing, and communication. Plus... if you go to any floor of the Green Library, you get to study with a view.

Standardized tests

If you're thinking on pursuing a career either at FIU or any other institution, you can start your preparation for IELTS or TOEFL exams at the ELI. We offer preparation courses & exams.
