Metric System Alexander and alejandro
We use the metric system to measure length weight,and volume. The units are meters for length,grams for weight and liters for volume. Bigger or smaller units are easy to understand because the conversion are times 10 or 100 or 1000.
Here is an easy way to remember the metric system


METER
10 centimeters equals 1 decimeter
1 meter is the same as 1000 millimeters
A football field is about 100 meters, so the soccer field I play at measures 100,000 millimeters.
A mile is equivalent to 1.6 kilometers
My house is 9.5 miles away from my school, which is the same as 15.2 kilometers away
A car is 8 meters long or 80 decimeters long
A boat is 30 meters long that is 3000 centimeters
A person's average height is 1.7 meters tall that is 17 decimeters
An Olympic pool is 50 meters long that is 50000 millimeters long
A mountain is 8,450 meters tall that is equal to approximately 8.5 kilometers
A pencil is 20 centimeters long that is 200 millimeters

1 kilogram equals to 1000 grams
A human person weighs about 56 kilograms which is equal to 56,000 grams.
A bag of potatoes weighs 5 kilograms which is equal to 5000 grams

A spoon weighs 15 grams that is equal to 0.015 kilograms

There are about 4 liters in a gallon
