Charles Lee Parrish By Megan English

Charles Levi Parrish was born on November 30. 1886 in Goochland County, Virginia, to Mary and C.D Parrish. This would make him an "Old Immigrant." He had two other siblings named Hattie and Maude Parrish. Up until 1910 Charles lived with his parents at Richmond Marshall Ward, Richmond (Independent City), in Virginia while working as a professional firefighter for the City of Richmond.

He married Alice Bottoms on November 30. 1905 on his nineteenth birthday. Alice was a homemaker and mother to their two children, Grace and Bernard.

Charles was registeted for WWI but was never called up for duty

Charles was a professional Firefighter for many years and decided that he needed a regular job to help out with his family because his wife had many health issues. Charles decided to become a Post office clerk so that he could have more time with his family. He rode the street car from Williamsburg Rd to the downtown main post office every day. He eventually worked his way up to the Post Office Master for the Richmond area.

After a lenthly illness Alice Bottoms Parrish passed away February 25, 1940. Charles remarried on August 6, 1942 to Louise Whitlow Parrish. He was 55 years when he married Louise, she was 41. Charles Lee Parrish passed away on August 7, 1956.
