Key Learning Objectives of the Day

  • How the organisation is applying systematic continuous improvement to tackling complex quality issues in mental health and community services, hearing directly from the teams leading improvement work
  • How the organisation is shifting to being improvement-focused, building capacity and capability for improvement at scale, and making quality its business strategy
  • How patients, carers and families are partnering with staff and leaders to influence decisions, define quality measures and being part of all improvement work

Staff (Emma Binley, James Innes, Auzewell Chitewe and Dr Amar Shah) from the East London NHS Foundation Trust kindly invited the Darzi Clinical Fellows to understand more about the work they do:

The above link to take you to the paper published in 2016 "building a culture of improvement at East London Foundation Trust" which covers the story of how the trust arrived to be Health Science Journals Trust of the year 2015 (amongst many other awards and successes)

The group were given a wide overview of Quality Improvement methodology, the opportunity to learn of live projects, examples of looking at data differently and how this can change the way conversations can happen with the presented data

The above link to QI Life allows the user once registered to easily create and edit driver diagrams, plan and track Plan Do Study Act cycles, measure data and automatically generates data in run and control style charts
