FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK

Chapter 20 President: Ben Barker, SR/WA, RW-RAC, RW-NAC

Greetings Chapter 20 Members!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. It is hard to believe that the IRWA 2020 International Education Conference in Minneapolis is six months away.

Chapter 20 is offering five scholarships to cover the registrations of the 2020 International Education Conference. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is January 31, 2020. For more information about the scholarship, please go to Chapter 20's website.

Prior to the 2020 International Education Conference, Chapter 20 is hosting the Region 3 Spring Forum on March 15th-16th. The forum includes a tour of the Hilton Hotel where the 2020 International Education Conference is located. Region Forums are a great way for you to meet other Right of Way professionals outside of Minnesota. To find more information or to register for the Spring Forum, click here.

During the winter and spring, Chapter 20 will be hosting two IRWA courses which will take place in February and March. Course 207 Practical Negotiations for US Federal and Federally Assisted Projects will be held February 11th and 12th and is hosted by Washington County. Course 901 Engineering Plan Development & Application is on March 17th at Fredrikson & Byron’s Minneapolis office. The 901 Course coincides with the Region 3 Spring Forum. Both courses are great for new and seasoned individuals in the right of way industry. If you are interested in attending any of these courses, please register by visiting the Chapter 20 Education Page.

Finally, if you are available on January 29th, please plan on attending our next Chapter 20 Member Meeting. The meeting will be held at Fredrikson & Byron’s office in Minneapolis. Register for the meeting by Thursday, January 23rd on Chapter 20's website.

If you need anything or have any questions about Chapter 20, please do not hesitate to contact me at 612-581-6572 or bbarker@wsbeng.com.

Best Regards,

Ben Barker, IRWA Chapter 20 President

MEMBERSHIP REPORT

Membership Renewal Reminder

You should have received your 2020 Membership Invoice. If you have not received your renewal invoice, please contact Ben Barker at 612-581-6572 or bbarker@wsbeng.com.

As of the end of December, 80% of our membership has renewed. Chapter 20 would like to hank everyone that has already renewed. If you have not renewed your membership, please renew your membership at your earliest convenience by going to www.irwaonline.org.

By renewing your membership you stay connected to your profession through the Right of Way Magazine, educational programs and the community of your peers. You also receive reduced member rates when you take a course, attend Association conferences and seminars, Chapter meetings and events.

If you are facing the difficult choice of paying for your dues out of your own pocket or letting your membership lapse altogether, we encourage you to call the IRWA Headquarters to discuss options on how you can maintain your membership for the upcoming year.

If Chapter 20 is able to retain 90% of our membership total, we will receive 1 free conference registration from Headquarters. We are hoping to meet that goal and can do that with your help.

There are other incentives as well based on our net growth that would also give us free memberships that we could pass on to our members. If you know anyone that is in our industry that would benefit from the IRWA, please let them know about us.

If you have any questions about your membership, please feel free to contact Ben Barker at 612-581-6572 or bbarker@wsbeng.com.

The 2020 Annual International Education Conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN.
