FNC AFL Gala Day

On Tuesday 23 February Byron Bay High School’s Under 15 AFL Team competed in the FNC Gala Day held at the Cavanbah Centre. We played our first game against Ballina Coast in what was an exciting match with multiple lead changes. Archie Brown kicking 5 goals was the highlight and saw Byron defeat Ballina Coast 54-31.

The win in the first game meant Byron progressed straight into the Grand Final where we met last year’s champion, Kingscliff. Again, they were a little bit more polished on the day and took a quick 4 goal lead in the first half. The boys fought really hard all game and managed to get back within two goals before eventually going down by 19 points.

It was extremely pleasing to have seven of our seventeen players selected for the Far North Coast Squad. Congratulations to Archie Brown, Sunny Hollick, Sunny O’Neil, Vyasadev Thallon, Oscar Woods, Flynn Mulligan and Ishtah Raju.

Congratulations to all the boys who competed on the day, they represented themselves and the school extremely well and should be really proud of their effort in making the Grand Final. Hopefully we can go one more next year!

Labelling belongings

We don't actually have a lost puppy... but we do have lots of lost property that is not labelled!

Lost Property

Our lost property bin is full of unlabelled items! Unfortunately we cannot return them to their rightful owner without a name. This includes unclaimed pencil cases, uniforms, etc.

All labelled items are sent to the owner either during class or in their lunch breaks.

If you have not already, please take the time this weekend to label your child/children's belongings.

All items that are NOT collected after being displayed are donated to St Vinnies.

Year 7 2021 Parent Welcome BBQ

Tuesday 2 March 2021 - 5:30 to 6:30 pm

A chance for our new Year 7 parents to meet with staff of Byron Bay High School. This is not a parent / teacher information session but a chance to get to meet and get to know the staff of Byron Bay High School.

All attendees, including students, staff, parents and carers, must be well and free of any flu-like symptoms. All visitors must sign the External Visitors Form and scan the QR code.

COVID-19 Restrictions for parents still apply at school

In accordance with NSW Health, Parents and carers ARE NOT ALLOWED ON SCHOOL SITES or at off-site school events held during school hours except for the following purposes only:

  • Essential parent and carer meetings with teachers and/or school executives, with a scheduled appointment. This includes scheduled meetings with parents and carers of prospective students. If you are coming for a prearranged appointment please bring your mobile phone so you can scan our QR Code.
  • Parents and carers who have been contacted by the school for the purpose of picking up their child if they are unwell. Parents and Carers will be asked to arrange a COVID-19 test for their child if they have displayed flu-like symptoms while at school. (If you are responding to our school absence SMS that your child is absent due to illness, please be specific about what symptoms or type of illness they have.)
  • Parents and carers who need to be on site to Volunteer in the School Canteen.

Thank you for your understanding. It is important that we abide by NSW Health guidelines.

School Fees

Byron Bay High School provides buildings, staff and funds for equipment and textbooks. Additional textbooks, equipment, printing and stationery must be purchased by the school. This practice has been in place for many years and although not compulsory, the funds raised through this contribution will be used to provide additional educational resources and programs.

It is the strong recommendation of this school’s P&C Association, to seek from parents and guardians the payment of school fees at the commencement of the school year. Parents who have difficulty paying fees are requested to contact the School to discuss alternative arrangements.

Course/Voluntary Fees

These charges are required to pay for materials actually used by the student in the course being studied. Parents can provide materials and equipment needed for elective courses, but lose the benefits of bulk purchase at wholesale rates.

In electing a subject, students accept that there are material usage fees or a requirement to provide equipment/materials themselves. Faculties can provide a list of these requirements. The cost of printing and paper is included in the Subject Fee.

Our new payment system 'SchoolBytes' allows us to email your School Statement of Account without the printing and posting which aligns with our Waste-FREE School policy. SchoolBytes allows you to make a payment with ease.

Please take the time to have a look at the payment options as there are options to select specific courses, split payments, etc. For instructions on how to do this please click here for a Parent Payment Guide this will open a new tab for you with the instructions, so you can follow whilst making payments.

Vaccinations | No signed consent form = No vaccination

Each year NSW Health works in partnership with schools to offer the vaccines recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for adolescents as part of the school vaccination program. There will be more information to follow about vaccination dates coming up in March.

Parent Information Kits that include an Information sheet, consent form and privacy statement will be given to students prior to all vaccinations. Without a completed and signed consent form your child will not be vaccinated. More details will be provided next week.

*NO STUDENT WILL BE VACCINATED WITHOUT A CONSENT FORM.
