LPGS VISUAL ARTS ACTIVITIES WEEK - CLAY WORKSHOP - mONDAY 15TH jULY 2019

LPGS Visual Arts Faculty kicked off the Activities week programme with a year 10 clay workshop.

All of the students were tasked with creating a three-dimensional form based on natural forms for inspiration.

First the students had to make two pinch pots which they fused together to make a hollow egg. They added a stalk to the egg form and then started to decorate the form with marks, textures, shapes and forms they found from looking at various resource materials.

The final forms are then aired dried for a few weeks and then they will be fired in one of our kilns to make them strong when displayed outside in the elements. The students will be invited back sometime next academic year to glaze their final work and so add colour and further decoration.

The workshop forms part of a larger project which we will run next academic year to encourage as many students as possible at LPGS to come and make their own natural form to be displayed later in the academic year around the school grounds.
