Another superb performance from the Ladies team saw them pick up their second win in the Supplementary Cup against Ripon City Panthers JFC Ladies.
A tactical battle between the two teams saw a lot of play to establish midfield dominance and both teams enjoyed spells of possession
Jane Kemshall was having some luck down the Wetherby right and on a few occasions she nearly managed to fashion chances for several of her teammates.
Wetherby took the lead in the 19th minute when a half clearance fell to Lucy Crann, as she shot goalwards, the ball took a deflection of Louise Ross and wrong footed the keeper as it went into the net.
Ripon enjoyed some possession down the right, but Wetherby’s backline stood firm and repelled them.
Following a disallowed goal for offside for Crann, she finally got on the scoreline in the 30th minute when she slotted home Ross’s cross.
The second half began with both teams playing some lovely football and testing each other’s defence. Wetherby came close through Jane Potter, but she couldn’t direct the ball goalwards.
Sarah Holmes went close with a superb run, but the keeper produced a brave save from close range.
Ripon also had several chances that went just wide of Katy Poulter’s goal.
In the 85th minute Sophie Crann latched onto her sister’s pass and slammed the ball past the keeper from close range to make it 3-0.
