I've dreamed of going to Space Camp for more than 30 years. I had my own VHS of the movie Space Camp (1986). The Space and Rocket Center has a display devoted to the film.
Space Camp lets you participate in numerous simulations giving you a taste of actual Astronaut and Mission Control training.
You take part in missions, conducting experiments, maintenance, and standard operations in true-to-life mock-up of the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. I was the commander of the ISS.
Amanda was the Pilot of the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
Campers are more than welcome to spend the night in the HAB, an on campus dorm. (We chose to stay in a hotel near by.)
Space Camp is held at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, which is also home to a rocket park. An Atlas V rocket towers over the center.
The Atlas V is the type of rocket that took the Apollo Missions to the Moon.
We each took turns training in the multi-axis trainer like the Mercury Astronauts.
The best simulation is the mission to Mars. We launch, we fly, we land, we experiment and we return to Earth

The best part was sharing this experience with my best friend.
