We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer. Here at the SEPAC we spent the summer relaxing and enjoying our families but also getting ready for this year by updating our website, welcoming new board members and liaisons, planning great events, and getting to know our new Director of Student Services Ruth Grube. We are happy to welcome her and look forward to an exciting and event filled year. Wishing you all the best in the 2019-2020 school year.

"We are better together." Dr. Bill Henderson
Opening Day: Dr. Bill Henderson on Inclusion
On Monday, August 26th Concord Public and Concord-Carlisle High School teachers and administration started their school year with a presentation by inclusion powerhouse Dr. Bill Henderson.
Dr. Henderson was an educator in the Boston Public Schools for 36 years. In 1989, he was appointed principal of the Patrick O'Hearn Elementary School with a mandate to include students with significant disabilities. He did this with great success and has had wide-spread recognition. Upon his retirement, the O'Hearn Elementary School was renamed The Dr. William W. Henderson Inclusion School.

Special Education Parent Forum: Inclusion in our Schools
The Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle Regional School District together with the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) want to hear from parents about inclusion in our schools. We would like to learn from you directly about approaches that have been successful for your child with disabilities, where you think change is needed and gains could be made.
One of the priorities highlighted this year from the District Strategic Plan is the inclusion of students with disabilities and the valuing of all learners. The district and schools will be creating goals related to ensuring all students feel welcome and valued in our schools.
There are two ways you can help by providing this important feedback. Firstly, we are holding a parent focus group, jointly hosted by Laurie Hunter and the Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC).
When: Thursday, September 5th from 10:00 - 11:30 am
Where: Conference Room 4, Ripley Building, Meriam Road
The focus group attendees will also include Ruth Grube, Director of Student Services, members of the School Committee and also a representative from each building from Pre-K through to CCHS.
Secondly, if you are unable to attend or would prefer to share your information confidentially, you can email the SEPAC Co-Presidents at email@example.com.
