OUR SYNDICATE MEMBERS - THE FACES OF ZIM BRIGHT FUTURES

These are the people who have given up their valuable time to represent our organisation across many different platforms. From top left to right we have Emmanuel Jefrey, John Cole, Rudo Shumba, Jonah Mungoshi and Albert Chigiya

OUR BACKGROUND

Zimbabwe Bright Futures Syndicate was founded by Blessing Mutamba as part of her legacy following her reign as Miss Ireland International 2019. The Syndicate’s main purpose is to create a knowledge sharing network that will specifically benefit young people of Zimbabwean heritage both living in Zimbabwe and abroad

The Syndicate is a not for profit organisation which takes a holistic approach to making a higher quality of education more accessible to children who are of primary, secondary and higher education age. This is done by acknowledging that young people’s general wellbeing all influence a child’s success in formal education

Therefore, the Syndicate offers mentorship and financial assistance to positively impact students’ formal education choices, enable young people to safely navigate within the creative industries and maintain their general wellbeing (for example mental health awareness, food insecurity or period poverty)

ONGOING PROJECTS

We have partnered with Elevation Zimbabwe and Africa University Rotaract to satisfy the need for A Level students in Zimbabwe to gain insight into general university life, how to compile application documents, associated tuition and maintenance costs but most importantly the content of specific subject areas at university level.

We are developing an educational podcast series alongside a micro grant award scheme for students at Hillcrest College Mutare, initially. The podcast episodes are interviews of Africa University students giving 2021 A Level finishers practical advice based on their university experiences. With time, we aim to roll out the programme amongst more schools in Manicaland and eventually across Zimbabwe.

We would like to thank everyone who has responded to our current fundraising cycle and we also look forward to receiving more donations or other assistance you may be prepared to offer. Elevation Zimbabwe and the students at Africa University have kindly agreed to join the project on a voluntary basis. Therefore, the success of this project heavily depends on the generosity of our donors and sponsors so that we can award as many micro grants to deserving students as possible.

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR

MAY 2020
For our first ever project, we teamed up with Unipower to donate supplies to the Matthew Rusike Children's Home in Epworth, Harare. This was the birth of what would later become the Zimbabwe Bright Futures Syndicate Trust as we know it today.
EARLY JUNE 2020
We raised USD510 which we donated to EatOut Movement's "We Are One" Initiative. Our joint efforts between all the organisations involved enabled us to donate food hampers to more than 100 families in and around Mutare
LATE JUNE 2020
As a knowledge sharing platform, we thought it would be fitting to launch our edu-series on Instagram to reinforce the work we had been doing on the ground. These sessions were provided as part of our efforts to raise money for the wider activities of the organisation
AUGUST 2020
In line with becoming Zimbabwe's premiere knowledge sharing base, the ModelGuide Academy ran from August until December 2020. Alongside Blessing as the head coach, we enjoyed having international pageant titleholders, stylists, fitness trainers and lifestyle coaches as some of our guest judges. During its time, the academy delivered both group and one to one training to over 50 models with our top students winning national titles and some going on to represent Zimbabwe beyond our borders
OCTOBER 2020
We awarded the highest achieving AS Level student at Hillcrest College (Mutare) with USD100 in support of any costs associated with her studies. Supporting education is at the heart of what we want to achieve, so we really want to carry on engaging in projects such as this one

OUR VISION AND MISSION

After we saw how much we could achieve in such a short space of time, we decided to expand the team and register as a Trust in Zimbabwe. We wanted to show our commitment to our shared ideas and build a strong platform for the cause. This is where the Zimbabwe Bright Futures Syndicate Trust came into existence based on the following principles:

1. We want to create a knowledge sharing platform for Zimbabwean young people both at home and abroad to use as a credible source of information

2. We want to collaborate with organisations and educational bodies in order to provide a beneficial curriculum of mentorship

3. We want to receive and issue donations which will be used in a transparent and fair manner for the benefit of Zimbabwe’s youth on a national scale

4. We want to provide a network of positive role models who inspire and empower both aspiring and established young Zimbabwean pioneers to compete on an international level in their respective fields
