Little Red Riding Hood A Brother's Grimm Tale

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was loved so dearly by her grandmother. Once, her grandmother gave her a little red riding hood and she never wore anything else after. One day her mother told Little Red Riding Hood to take a basket filled with a piece of cake and a bottle of wine to her grandmother, who was ill and weak, for the goodies would make her feel better.

Little Red Riding Hood made her way towards her dear grandmother's house. On her way, she ran into a wolf on the edge of the wood. She spoke with the wolf
"Good day, Little Red Riding Hood!" spoke the wolf.
"Good, day to you, wolf." said Little Red Riding Hood.
"Where are you off to so early in the day?" Asked the wolf.
"To my grandmother's house, " replied Little Red Riding Hood.
"What is in your basket?" the wolf questioned.
"Cake and wine for my grandmother to make her better. She is ill and weak," she responded.
"Where does your grandmother live?" he asked.
"A good quarter of a league farther on in the wood; her house stands under the three large oak-trees, the nut-trees are just below; you surely must know it," replied Little Red Riding Hood.
The wolf decided that Little Red Riding Hood would make a tasty treat, so he followed along side her.
"Little Red Riding Hood, you should pick some flowers for your grandmother! I'm sure she would be pleased," said the wolf.
"What a wonderful idea!" she exclaimed.
But soon, Little Red Riding Hood realized that she had wondered much too far from the path, getting deeper and deeper into the woods. Meanwhile, the wolf was already on his way to the grandmother's house.

He knocked on the door.
"Who is it? asked grandmother.
"It's Little Red Riding Hood!" replied the wolf.
"Come on in, dear!" said grandmother.
The wolf opened the door and went straight to the grandmother's bed. Without even saying a word, he devoured her. He then put on her clothes, laid in bed, and closed the curtains.
Little Red Riding Hood was so busy picking flowers that she nearly forgot about her dear grandmother. She raced to her house with a handful of flowers, cake, and wine. When she arrived, she was surprised that her grandmother's door was already wide open. She walked in with caution.
There, she saw her grandmother laying in bed with her cap pulled over her face and looking very strange.

"Oh! Grandmother, what big ears you have!" She said.
"All the better to hear you with, my child," was the reply.
"But, grandmother, what big eyes you have!" She said.
"All the better to see you with, my dear."
"But, grandmother, what large hands you have!"
"All the better to hug you with."
"Oh! But, grandmother, what a terrible big mouth you have!"
"All the better to eat you with!"
Then in only one second, the wolf jumped out of bed and swallowed up Red Riding Hood. The wolf then quickly fell asleep, pleased with his latest meal.
The huntsman was just passing by the house when he noticed very loud snoring. He thought to himself, "The old woman is snoring! I must see if she wants anything." When he walked into the house, he noticed the wolf laying in the old woman's bed.

"It's you!" cried the huntsman. "I've been looking for you for quite some time!"
The huntsman was going to shoot him, but then realized that he may have eaten the grandmother so he instead pulled out a knife and began opening the stomach of the wolf.

He then saw Little Red Riding Hood and the grandmother inside of the wolf's stomach.
"Oh, thank you! It was dark and I was so frightened in there!" screamed Little Red Riding Hood.
The huntsman then filled the wolf's stomach with stones so he could not run away. The huntsman, grandmother, and Little Red Riding Hood enjoyed the rest of their evening eating the cake and drinking the wine and no wolf ever harmed Little Red Riding Hood ever again.
