Award-winning children’s book author and illustrator Barbara McClintock got her start in 1977 with the publication of Potbellied Possums. Matt Phelan began his work as an illustrator over twelve years ago with the publication of The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs written by Betty G. Birney. He has lent his artistic talents to more than 25 books including picture books, middle-grade novels, a young writer's handbook and two anthologies. He is also the creator of four widely-acclaimed graphic novels which have been nominated for several creative achievement awards. His first graphic novel, The Storm in the Barn, was the recipient of the 2010 Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction.
