Upon arrival in Istanbul at 12:05pm, you will be transferred for your Private Bosphorus Cruise including snacks and drinks. A traditional excursion by Bosphorus, Istanbul boat along the waterway separating Europe and Asia. The shore is lined with old wooden villas, palaces of marble, fortresses, and small fishing villages. During the excursion you will pass the magnificent Dolmabahce Palace, and further along, the parks and imperial pavilions of Yildiz, Ciragan and Beylerbeyi Palaces. The cruise duration is approximately 2 hours. By the end of your cruise you will visit Hagia Sophia.
You will visit Hagia Sophia - Built by the Emperor Justinian when Istanbul was Constantinople, this magnificent example of Byzantine architecture boasts a massive dome, a lengthy nave, and an interior decorated with marble, precious stones, and pillars from Ephesus. Hagia Sophia is considered a unique monument in world architecture, and it's magnificence and functionality has been a good example in construction of countless Ottoman mosques. Hagia Sophia with its exceptional history constitutes a synthesis between east and west. This monument is one of the wonders of the world that has remained intact until the present day. Hagia Sophia - Istanbul One can find many attractions in Hagia Sophia - interesting forms of Byzantine architecture, mosaics of the Christian period as well as structures added during the Ottoman era.You will spend approximately 1,5 hours at Hagia Sophia.
You will visit Underground Cistern. The Underground Cistern is located near the Hagia Sophia Church in the Sultanahmet district.Built by Justinian in the 6th century, the Underground Cistern is supported by 336 beautiful columns. Two are incised with the head of Medusa.The Turks call it "Yerenbatan Sarayi" which means "underground palace". The cistern was built by Justinian in the 6th century. Underground Cistern - Istanbul Underground Cistern - Istanbul It is 70 meters wide and 140 meters long, with a capacity of 80,000 cum. of water. The cistern is supported by 336 beautiful columns two of which are carved with the head of Medusa on the plinth. The cistern has been renovated and is open to the public every day of the week. While inside, you can enjoy classical background music, the differently illuminated columns and watch fishes swimming in the water. Underground Cistern - Istanbul And at the end of the tour you can also throw a coin and make a wish ... You may spend approximately 1 hour in Cistern. Continue to Hippoddrome.The Hippodrome was an immense construction 480 meters length and 117.5 meters wide; it could seat, according to estimations one hundred thousand spectators. It was build in 203 by the Emperor Septimus Severus and later on Constantine the Great extended and remodeled it. As Hagia Sophia was the center of religious life, the Hippodrome was the center of the civil activities. Hippodrome - Istanbul The interests and passions of the population was divided between theological controversy and chariots races on the Hippodrome. Today you can only see some monuments where the Hippodrome was. You may spend approximately 1 hour in Hippoddrome. Then you will depart for dinner around 19:30-20:00pm. You will depart for the airport at 22:00pm to take your flight at 01:35am on 22 May.
