Chestnut Montessori November, 16th 2016

Hello Chestnut Families,

We very much enjoyed celebrating Halloween with your little ones. They loved sharing their halloween adventures about dressing up and trick-or-treating. In addition to painting scarecrows, we made apple crumble to celebrate the fall season. After reading the book "The Apple Pie Tree" each child happily made an apple treat. This group loves to bake and no one was shy about de-coring and chopping their apple. Each pie was eaten down to the last crumb. The Chestnut teachers even had an apple pie for dinner as the house smelled so good. :)

We can't believe how fast the month of November is flying by! The children are determinedly and passionately finishing big projects, belting out "Over the River and Through the Woods", and our extra days are coming up (the 21st and 22nd). During this time of year, we discuss the story of Thanksgiving and the pilgrims' journey to America. To make this more relatable, we give the kindergarteners a chance to discuss their families journey to America-Thank you kindergartener families for filling out the ancestry homework.

We are also enjoying our new fence out front and the kids use pick up time to play chase and share their toys. Thank you parents and family members for attending our "Little Old Lady" performance, participating in the fundraisers, and coming to the parent-child night. We are inspired by our wonderful Chestnut community!

Here are the lyrics to "Over the River and Through the Wood"

Over the river and through the wood,

To Grandfather's house we go.

The horse knows the way To carry the sleigh,

Through the white and drifted snow.

Over the river and through the wood,

Oh, how the wind does blow!

It stings the toes and bites the nose,

As over the ground we go.
